Victory For Florida's Goliath Groupers
On April 26, 2018, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) decided not to reopen fishing on the critically endangered Goliath Grouper. Their decision was based primarily on the overwhelming opposition from the public and scientists that both contacted the FWC and attended their meeting.
The FWC received over 5000 public comments on the Goliath Grouper Proposal, and our petition garnered over 60,000 signatures and was mentioned in their presentation.
When people come together to stand up for what is right, amazing things happen. Never doubt the power of petitions, emails, and speaking up. Our voices were heard!
